Girly Chew Hossencofft's parents Mr. Chew Shing Kheng and wife Margaret still held out hope that their daughter remained alive when this photo was taken by a Malaysian newspaper in 2001. According to their son, Mr. and Mrs. Chew clung to that hope until January 9, 2002, when their daughter's estranged husband pleaded guilty to Girly's murder and a dozen other charges.
